Madrid Local Haunts | Panela & Co

By Barbara Franco

If you are a healthy food lover, Panela & CO is your place. Their wide menu offers sandwiches, bagels, wraps, sweets and cakes– all of them homemade without artificial preservatives – which makes it the perfect place for breakfast or lunch.

Something you can’t miss is their Saturday brunch. You’d better go with the stomach empty because you will eat A LOT. To start with you have to choose your coffee (or tea) and your lemonade or juice. After that you have to decide the starter, which is quite complicated as everything is so delicious. I strongly recommend the waffle with strawberries – but don’t worry chocolate lovers, there’s a nutella version for you as well!

As for the main dish, there are many options: from bagels to pancakes. But you should really order the bacon Benedict eggs, one of the best of Madrid. If you are sharing then you should try the pancakes as well (with cranberries or nutella, both options are really good). And apart from that the price is really reasonable: just 19€.

If the weather is nice enough you can sit on the terrace, just make sure you arrive early as it is not very big.

You can find them in Calle López De Hoyos, 10. It is just ten minutes walking from the closest metro station Gregorio Marañon, and between the Natural History and the Sorolla Museums.
